INTRODUCING, THE BEAUTIFUL: AMARA NICHOLE.

Introduce yourself: "My name is Amara and I'm a 17 year old model, photographer, photographer, fashion designer, blogger and your best friend."

What would be a typical day in your life?: "My days are always so different that it's hard for me to really answer this question. I think life always provides a whirlwind of unexpected things throughout the day making a typical one very rare."

How would you describe your style?: "I would say that my style is girly, fun, random, dark, edgy... Basically a combination of things that just catch my eye. I love wearing darker colors, and monochromatic color schemes are the majority of what make up my wardrobe."

What are five things that you can't live without?: "Cell phone, camera, computer, pencil/paper, but my number one thing would be my iPod. It's seriously like therapy for me and quite frankly, the only reason I am sane!"

Any favorite designers, brands or trends of the moment?: "A designer that I've been in love with for the past 4+ years is Lanie Alabanza Barcena, the creator of the line Hellz Bellz. I really love the fact that they mix streetwear with pieces that are so feminine - I feel that this creates a nice balance."

Who are you most inspired by?: "People! There are many things that inspire me - From my family, my boyfriend - Who always pushes me to be motivated - Or those people who are already established that I look up to. The simpleness of this question would be people. I mean, the positive and the negative things about people are what helps me learn lessons and decide what I'd like to do and what I wouldn't like to do with my life."
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?: "I'm sure this is a response that was expected, but it would have to be New York. I feel that living in Los Angeles all of my life makes me want to try something different and New York would be the best place to transition to. I've always been intrigued by how different things are there. For example: Clothing, food and just the overall aspect of life. Plus, you know what they say: 'If you can make it in New York, you can make it anywhere'."

What are your favorite places to shop?: "Urban Outfitters, thrift shops, many online stores like ASOS and those sorts of sites, and eBay!"

What's your favorite quote/saying?: "Hope for the best, prepare for the worst, expect nothing and you'll never get hurt."

If you had to listen to one song for the rest of your life, which would it be?: "Damn! Ha, these are the questions that really get me because of the endless amounts of answers I could provide. I mean, I love a variety of genres in music, but the one that probably gets me the most focused and in my element would have to be underground hip-hop. If I had to pick just one song, it would have to be J Dilla's "Won't Do"."

If you could invite three "famous" or "well-known" people to dinner - From the past or present - Who would they be?: "Karl Lagerfeld, Alexander McQueen and Yves Saint Laurent. Man, oh man... What a table that would be! Hopefully by the end of the night, they'd agree to collaborate and make an outfit for me... Free of charge.

To end it all here, what can we expect from you in the future?: "Definitely my clothing line that will come in a few years from now, but more pictures and various projects with people are some of the things I can accomplish at the moment. I will also have my eBay store up and running very soon, so look out for that. Overall, there's just lots more of myself to be seen in the fashion community.

Isn't she lovely?

These past few weeks have been super exciting. I've been counting down until I leave for Madrid and now it's finally here. I'll be gone for a week, but I have 2 posts lined up in my drafts folder that I plan on posting while I'm away. See, I wouldn't just leave you guys high and dry! I leave on the 31st, which is technically tomorrow and I can't wait! Although I'm not even packed yet, I'm well prepared for the trip. Today I ran some errands with my brother and his girlfriend... I picked up two color filter disposable lomography cameras - A red flash + a blue flash, as well as a few packs of batteries... Definitely don't want to run out of those! I've even bookmarked everything I plan to see + everywhere I plan to visit in my travel guide. My mom even purchased us the passes for unlimited access to every museum, site, etc. and also unlimited passes for public transportation. This is going to be an amazing trip. I hope you all have been living it up for the remainder of your summers. Thanks for reading + watching, hope you enjoyed. Stay beautiful, my loves!

WELCOME TO NYC, LOS ANGELES BEAUTY.

Boca Chica @ 13 1st Ave + East 1st Street, NYC, 10003.
A light fresh banana snack from The Lite Choice.
The Waffle Truck.
Sam's first mini wafelini.
A very light dinner at Pommes Frites.
This past weekend was pretty awesome. Sam (click!), a fellow blogger + I guess you can say "online" friend, came to visit from Los Angeles, CA. She stayed in DC for the majority of her trip, but I'm super glad she decided to embrace NYC for at least one day. Sue + I met up with her around 1pm on Saturday + had brunch at Boca Chica in the East Village. I had the steak, eggs + potatoes with a frozen strawberry margarita (hey! at least it was after noon). After a delicious meal, we roamed around, doing some shopping here and there. I picked up an outfit for next weekend's party from American Apparel (it will be included in the upcoming haul). We even ran into the Waffle Truck near West 4th Street, so it was necessary for me to treat both Sam + Sue to their first Waffle Truck experience! We each got a "mini wafelini" and kept on our merry way. Towards the evening, we met up with Neesha back in the Village + headed to Whatever Piercing + Tattoo on Saint Mark's Place and 2nd Avenue. Spontaneously decided to get a piercing - Which I am in love with, by the way! Then, after meeting up with my brother + Brandon, we headed around the corner to Pommes Frites for a light dinner. Before we knew it, it was time for Sam to return home. We had a wonderful time, she's a super sweet girl! We can't wait until she returns, hopefully before the year is up. Thanks for reading + I hope you all had a great weekend! Summer is almost up, so you guys better be enjoying it, XO.

PEACE, LOVE + CUPCAKES.

To start with, I'm using Reynold's Jumbo Baking Cups (24 count)
+ 2 boxes of Pillsbury's Yellow Cake Mix.
To achieve the base batter, just follow the directions on the box.
To dye the batter, I'm using Betty Crocker's Classic Gel Food Colors,
which contains red, blue, yellow + green.
On the back of the box, there's a guide on how to
achieve other colors that aren't included in the set.
In order to create a tie-dye effect,
you have to layer on each color gradually -
Because of this, the process can be a tad time consuming.
I chose to start with green.
Since the batter is yellow, it takes quite a few drops to deepen the hues.
Next I chose orange - I layered that on top of the green.
Up next: Aqua blue - Layered on top of the orange.
Red - Layered on top of the aqua blue.
Lastly, yellow (which turned out to be beautifully deep),
layered on top of the red.
Keep in mind to avoid overfilling your baking cups,
naturally - They WILL rise.

Before the babies went into the oven.
When it comes to oven temperature + baking time,
keep with the instructions on the boxes of cake mix.

Done + bare.
Tie-dye effect when you cut inside of it.
I love using Pillsbury cake mixes because they include 1 cup of pudding,
which leads to super moist cakes + cupcakes.
I frosted these using my piping bag with
Pillsbury's Whipped Supreme Strawberry Frosting.
When using a piping bag, the frosting has to be fluffy
in order for there to be proper application.
Pillsbury's Whipped Supreme is by the fluffiest store-bought frosting.
Lastly, I topped it off with a few tiny multi-colored crystal sprinkles.

These cupcakes were delicious + my friends,
including the birthday girl, truly enjoyed them.
I hope you all had fun reading!
Let me know if anyone decides to make them.
YOM.
