THE ARTIST IS PRESENT.

The Museum of Modern Art.
@ 11 West 53rd Street, btwn 5th & 6th Avenues, NYC.

Woman with Tambourine - Pablo Picasso, 1939/1943.

Bathers in a Forest - Pablo Picasso, 1908.

Luncheon on the Grass, After Manet - Pablo Picasso, 1962/1963.

Walking House - Laurie Simmons, 1989.

Campbell's Soup Cans - Andy Warhol, 1962.

Gold Marilyn Monroe - Andy Warhol, 1962.

Orange Car Crash Fourteen Times - Andy Warhol, 1963.

THE HIGHLIGHT:
Marina Abramović, herself.

This was by far the most moving part of the 6th floor exhibit,
even though it is obviously not Marina Abramović herself, it is still her work
.
The human body above is a live nude. While viewing the exhibit,
she held eye contact with me for a number of minutes... And within those
few minutes, what I felt really can't be explained.
This is just something you would have to experience on your own to better understand.

The following photos were not taken by me:
Although these photos were not taken by me, I did get to experience these live performance
segments and photographs of Marina Abramović within the 6th floor exhibit.

As I stated I'd be doing in my previous entry, yesterday I visited the MoMA - The Museum of Modern Art, here in NYC. I'm not particularly a fan of this museum because I'm not really big on modern, post-modern and today's version of contemporary art. The main reason I planned to attend was to experience the exhibitions of Marina Abramović. She has been an active artist for the past 30 years - Mainly expressive through performance art - Or as she calls them "rhythms", films and photography. Through her art, she explores the physical limitations of the body - Sometimes through pain - And the relationships and connections between the body and the mind. I wasn't particularly a fan of her before my museum visit, I was just simply curious when it came to experience and learning more about her and her art. Well, I must say... She is currently my favorite modern artist. Her live performance consisted of sitting on the 2nd floor of the museum - Silent and still - For the duration of her exhibit, which is 3 months. The visitors can one-by-one sit in front of her for as long as they like. Although there is no verbal communication taking place, the strength of an unspoken bond between the two is moving. NOTE: You are not allowed to take pictures of HER exhibit and installations, but I snuck some, so don't judge me. After I witnessed the live performance, I went up to the 6th floor, which consisted of nothing but her work and I really couldn't believe myself. I was so tragically taken back by the forms of expressions going on before my eyes. Her work is extremely emotional and here's a warning - It may be extremely disturbing to some. It wasn't disturbing to me, it was intriguing and I believe that it was strong. Art is subjective, therefore, we're all entitled to our opinions and I understand that many people might not believe that what she does is art... But this is her form of expression, this is her battling her personal demons for the world to see, and I believe that we must respect her and her works for that. I hope you all enjoyed this post and I hope that at some point, you can witness artwork or forms of expression that touch you in the way that this artist's works touched me. Her exhibit at the MoMA ends on May 31st, so if you're in New York and you're interested in checking this out, you better get there now. Thanks for reading, loves and I hope everything is going well for all of you. Ciao.

FIELDS OF FLORALS + BEADS.

Final project collage for Design class.

Mint Candy Apple - Essie.

Hey loves! How are you all doing? I'm doing swell + I hope you are, too. I've been procrastinating on posting this entry because I wasn't 100% sure if I wanted to post the vlog, but I figured I might as well go for it. Especially since I don't plan on shopping much more in the near future. School is great, only two more days of classes left. I've already taken my design final + I scored a 95, plus two A+'s on my final project collage (posted above). My professor thinks it's one of the best collages she's seen and if she had assigned/collected it earlier, it would have made it into the school gallery's newest exhibit. Nothing new is really going on. I finally registered my classes for fall, I'm taking five of them: Math, Ancient Art History, Modern Art History: 1800 to 1945, Modern Art History II: 1945 to Present-day and People + The Environment. I've decided that instead of picking up a double major - Alongside my current and initial Art History major, I'm going to just pick up two minors: Philosophy + European History. Anyways, aside from school, things are going great. I've decided that I'm going to invest in a new camera: a Nikon L110. It's an advanced digital camera + I should be purchasing it next week. I've been looking into purchasing a new camera for some time now and since I travel often and will be visiting Spain this summer, I figured there's no better time than the present. Tomorrow I'm planning on visiting the MoMA to view the Marina Abromovik exhibit. It ends on May 31st, so I'm really cutting it close to the finishing date, but at least I'm finally making it! I'll be taking photos throughout the visit, so that'll probably be my next entry. I also can't wait to see Sex & the City 2 this upcoming weekend! The weather has been absolutely beautiful and I'm finding it extremely difficult to remain in the house lately. Even if I'm just roaming the city, I'm enjoying it far more than sitting inside, on the computer. This is pretty normal for normal people, though. I'm sure. I think that's pretty much it for now. I hope you enjoyed the vlog + entry. If you have an requests, suggestions, etc. - Leave a comment here or on Formspring or tweet me. Hope everything is going great for you all, babies! Thanks for reading/watching... Ciao.

STARS IN OUR EYES, WE'RE HAVIN' A GOOD TIME...

Finally wearing the shirt that I'm on for the first time in a year.
The New Museum @ 235 Bowery, NYC.
Make-up testing in Sephora w/ Neesha.
Legalize Gay - Repeal Prop 8 now.
Hi, my beautiful readers. It's been a while since I've done a random post, but I'm in the mood for one now, so here it goes. Lately, I have just been loving life. I've been having a great time. Last Saturday night, Iman + I went to a party. It's been a long while since I've especially, especially in Brooklyn. We had an awesome night/time. To start the night off, we had dinner at SEA in the Meatpacking District, then we headed off to the party in Williamsburg. I'm pretty sure that night will be making history books, but unfortunately there are no pictures... Maybe next time. Mother's Day was lovely. We had brunch with my mom + some friends at Gemma in the city, then we headed to the on Bowery. There's really nothing to even talk about when it comes to this museum. It was pretty much awful New Museum + I will be writing complaints. Last Tuesday, Neesha + I met up for a little while. I went to Grand Central Optical + picked out some new prescription sunglasses. They're Chanel + absolutely adorable. I'll be picking them up this week when they're ready. After that, we went roaming in Sephora, testing all kinds of make-up, as you can see my artwork in the photo above. Then finally, we had dinner at Cafeteria - The usual. Other than that, school has been alright. It's almost over, only two more weeks. This summer I'll be taking two classes - Classical Philosophy + Intro to Political Theory, which is an express course, so I'll only have it for 3 weeks instead of 6. Now... I have the most exciting news ever: I'm going to Madrid, Spain in August! My mom has been suggesting we take a mother-daughter trip because we never travel alone together anymore. She knows how badly I want to visit Paris, but it's something my boyfriend + I have been planning on doing together for a while. I suggested Spain + of course, she said that was fine. I am so excited to visit the Museo del Prado. It's the main reason I suggested Spain, to be honest. We'll be staying from August 31st until September 6th... I honestly can't wait. I think that's all for now, hope all is well with everybody. Ciao, dolls.

SERIOUS LUST FOR LUSH.

Just a little hello.
Sugar Babe Sugar Scrub - 4.95$.
Featured ingredient: Fair Trade Sugar.
Gets crumb-like once it hits water + works as a great exfoliant.
I use this about once a week.
Godiva Solid Shampoo - 9.95$.
Featured ingredient: Fair Trade Cocoa Butter.
This is probably my #1 recommendation from LUSH.
I didn't think it would work too great because I love lather
when it comes to washing my hair.
...I couldn't believe how much this solid shampoo lathers.
It leaves your hair feelings squeaky clean.
I'm definitely using LUSH solid shampoos from now on.
(I just use my normal conditioner directly after.)

The Soft Touch Body Butter - 14.95$.
Featured ingredient: Fresh Mango.
I love this idea of a body butter.
It pretty much just melts onto your skin +
you can continuously rub it into your skin.
It's great to use before bed, since it is a tad on the oily side.

Sexy Peel Soap - 7.95$ per 1/4 lb.
Featured ingredient: Orange Juice.
Vegan.
I haven't used this yet, but it smells good enough to drink.
It's recommended use is in the morning...
Since it's made of citrus, it really awakens your senses.
In my opinion, it's especially perfect on a summer morning.

"Love Lettuce" Fresh Face Mask - 5.95$.
This mask's main ingredients are crushed almonds - including shells + oils,
to exfoliate/moisturize + lavender oils to help regulate skin oil levels.
I use this just about every other day because it's bound to expire.
I purchased it on April 23rd + it expires on May 10th.
You have to keep it chilled, preferably in the fridge.
There are many different masks to suit different needs + skin types.
This one was best recommended for my skin description, I love it.
The smell is... Interesting, not really good OR bad - Definitely tolerable, though.
Another plus about these masks is that when you gather 5 of these
empty black pots, you get a FREE fresh face mask... Great deal, in my opinion.

SAMPLES:
Angels On Bare Skin Cleanser.
Featured ingredient: Lavender Oil.
Vegan.
Best-selling cleanser for all skin types.
Once again, lavender oil helps regulate oil levels.
I used this and I love it, although I'm not crazy about the scent.
All you have to do is take a small chunk + add water,
it turns into a clay-ish paste which you then massage onto your face.
It's a nice, super mild scrub + leaves your skin feeling super clean, as well as smooth.

"Crash Course in Skin Care" Fresh Face Mask.
Haven't used this mask either, but according to the sales person,
it's also the "best selling face mask for all skin types" in the store.
This mask expires on May 19th,
so I plan on using it once I finish up my "Love Lettuce" mask.
I don't exactly know what's in this particular mask,
but I'm going to try to do some research for you guys.
(These "fresh face masks" aren't sold on the site,
probably because they NEED to be chilled + they expire rather quickly.)

LUSH makes products strictly using fresh, organic fruits/vegetables,
the finest essential oils + safe synthetics.
They invent their own products + fragrances:
Making them fresh by hand, using little to NO preservatives OR packaging.
Their products are NOT tested on animals - They also don't
purchase ingredients from companies who commission testing on animals.
All in all, LUSH is a great company + they definitely deserve business.

I hope you all enjoyed these reviews.
If you guys have any favorites from LUSH, feel free to share.
Comments, suggestions, questions, tutorial/vlog requests are always welcome.

Ciao, baby dolls.
